A&L is a small firm by choice. We take on a new team member roughly once every eighteen months and hire deliberately — someone who wants to actually advise clients, not manage a pipeline.
Not a call centre. Not a “pipeline”. Actual advice work.
A&L was founded on the idea that a client should have the same adviser from the first call through to their fifth remortgage. That only works if we keep the firm small.
Big broker networks pay their advisers on volume and hand out cases from a shared queue. That produces a lot of transactions and not much continuity. If you have ever worked in that setup and wanted a different model, we might be a good fit.
Every A&L adviser is expected to run their own client base end-to-end — first call, recommendation, application, underwriter conversations, completion, and the next remortgage five years later.

Genuine advice mindset
Someone who wants to give clients the right answer even when it means fewer transactions. Repeat business follows honest advice; it does not follow product pushing.
Ownership of the whole case
You will run each case yourself — the first call, the fact-find, the recommendation, the application, the underwriter questions. Not just a slice of it.
CeMAP qualified (or working towards it)
Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice is essential for mortgage advisers. We are happy to consider people currently studying if they have a strong reason to switch into this work.
